insomnia!!! i don't know why i find it so hard to sleep at a normal time i pose as if i have so much time on my hands and really i don't there are a million and one things i should be doing right now...like packing my clothes away as my room looks like a volcanic eruption of clothes but i'm sitting listening to good music sipping hot milk and dunking cookies ...very old school but my good friend ishmael (who i love for his hair) suggested is the best cure so here goes .... but the purpose of this post was to talk about alessi's ark -great music for that chill out session but between intervals of going through my playlist darwin deez keeps getting played. i'm addicted to the hair, the moves ....

this year i vowed i would not be left out when it came to festivals and so far so good! LOVEBOX '10 back in my hometown E3  the infamous VICTORIA PARK where most of my childhood memories were captured ..learning to ride my bike, my first steps, where i found my first love at the age of 3 and we were married under the monkey bars -original! but enough of the trip down memory lane, LOVEBOX  on friday exceeded my expectations. The music phenomenal and the company even better ( lauren and april). Though i missed four of my fave acts macabee's, the mystery jets, ellie goulding and bombay bicycle club due to other acts at the same time and in the rizzla area i still enjoyed myself ...the additional fun fair took my back to my youth ...i'm getting old. Never attempt to go on a waltzer ride after 1 bottle of rose and 3 cans of gaymers not the one! the wellies finally got put to use and dizzie rascals performance ...off the frickin chain aaaah i will be there next yr adding v fest and glasto under my belt ... if i can pluck up the courage and camp ...the thought of not showering twice a day has not sunk in yet .... i got over my phobia of portable loo's so i suppose ...we'll just have to see !!!!!! ahhhhh LOVEBOX 2010.....DONE !!!

Countdown to LOVEBOX festival and British forecast has predicted cloudy with mini showers which means one thing MUD! MUD! Last festival i opted for the wrong footwear but it went with my jumpsuit so i went against my instincts. This time i'm prepared and i expect things to get messy ...i fell like a child again jumping up and down in puddles hehe- to the music of course...!!! i'm praying that it rains in the night and the day just remains gloomy ..anyways HOW BAD ASS ARE THESE WELLIES? a replica of the hunter version but right now i don't have 65 squid so these bad boys by next are perfecto!!! i love the detailing a lil short when i put them on put over the knee socks will finish my outfit off!! all will be revealed on friday ooooh i'm so excited that i wore them round the house today my mum likes them , my dad thinks they're cool even my uncle raph and he's 72 !!! i guess fashion runs through our veins !!!!

After checking jesslovesfred.com/ blog this morning (which by the way i'm totally inspired by this young fashionista) i came across this new post Darwin Deez are now officially my main (music) squeeze! i love their music but had never heard of them before. For my i don't listen to one particular genre i love everthing from billy idol to mozart but i get my music style from my father whose record collection is fricking INSANE !!! all i can say is one bedroom cannot hold his entire collection and that's saying something.... enough blaberring from me cos i'm even getting tired off rambling i'm still in my p.j.'s (btw it's 10.34 a.m. just incase this post says something different ) and i need some cereal ..... so quick play and jump around in your p.j.'s to radar detctor!!!!

However this Norwegian prodigy is def one to watch out for because he has recently starred alongside Liv Tyler in G-STAR's A/W 10/11 campaign and i have to say not bad ...doesn't he look dashing ? i dunno but i love a guy in a nice trench or smart jacket in winter it  gives a certain je n'ai c'est pas ? and the name alone also suggests he destined for greatness ..... Lady Gaga is definately controversial with her outfit choices and sometimes i wish i had a little more confidence like herself . Its funny because when i recently went on holiday i went to a drag queen show and one of the women , the only actual woman in fact wore this outfit. So i trailed up and down (the internet ) until i saw the inspiration behind her costume and voila here we are !!!!

time waits for no man ...in dalston kingsland!

My day started at 8am as my blackberry blasted an uncanny sound ...it was indeed my alarm. That uncontrolable ringing sound reminds me that it time to start work in the real world.. i wash,brush my teeth, put on my traditional black and white uniform and leave my house. I board the train at 9:15 and arrive at sloane square at approximately 10:08. Sure, i'm 8 minutes late but blame tfl!!! grr all that money invested,the daylight robbery with overpriced tickets but it can't be helped. As i walked through the double glazed doors into my department my team leader approaches me cautiously with a worried smile and utters" Monique, do you WANT to be here?" in the back of my mind i'm thinking you have to be kidding me of course not but another day another dollar "because we are overstaffed so you can go home" the next couple of seconds were a blur as i tried to register the wasted journey that had just taken place !!!! that meant i had to make a trek back home.

Things happen for a reason. i needed to sort so many things out its unreal. Today was a day all about me (what day isn't-i joke!). Returned outfits that i didn't need. Purchased birthday card to send to my grandad in the caribbean,what i'd give to be there now  as the British weather has taken the sun as hostage ,but hey we needed a break, us brits are not used to all this sun ,we were getting a little greedy! I bought a book too ( my inner geek) as not being told what to read has made me want to read more. i know i can't explain this either and to finish my day i went to visit Lauren at her grandad's bakery in Dalston, Kingsland. People get down there the food is insane!!!! fried fish and rice and peas, hard dough bread, cut cake, bun and cheese, bbq chicken, cut cake, bula bread, ting, bigga, ping ( caribbean drinks) oh my mouth waters as i reel off the glourious food that encompassed around me ...i  was like a kid in a candy store -the rumble in my stomach made it evident!  TOM'S BAKERY get down there now!!! I stocked up on my dinner too. As i strolled down the market looking at the mass of people, market venders selling their craft, mothers,  screaming babies, teens, group of old men having their afternoon gathering. i strolled aimlessly by enjoying my day off ...i realised time waits for no man...especially in Dalston Kingsland.

i need this collection of jeffery campbell bad-ass shoes in my life now! These crazy kicks will just have me feeling happier than i do at this current moment. At present i'm discussing my life with jasveen being single whilst all of my friends are loved up i've come to the conclusion that i'm going to end up a spinster with a to die for wardrobe full of hot clothes bags and shoes not cats as i can't take all that meowin' no offense but they're just not my thing. But the funds are low so i'm going to be hustling for a few days more like weeks to make these babies the additional part of my family. I'd be such a proud mother when they arrive at least they'll love me (besdies jasveen) and bring no drama !!!!

Haha! right now there are mixed emotions that i'm feeling as i type this blog post. tears of happiness and slightly overwhelmed. i have managed to defeat all odds and post my first ever music blog (that included the video) a big round of applause to me! i think i'm overcoming being slow when it comes to technology and have moved on from switching the computer on and word to, uploading photos, blogs and now music!!! anyhoo I really do not know why this song has been on repeat all day ? baffed ! but i love lily allen's cape my a/w coat and green heels ...instead of just enjoying a music video i'm focusing more on the outfits ...slyly can't be helped though

my inner geek loves art galleries and the latest thing on my to do list is to head down to the tate and check out Rude Britannia which looks at comic art 1600-present day and satirical art that will have the older generation ( my grandma included though she doesn't look a day over 50 and she's 15 years older) either gasping , blushing or passing out by finding the whole experience to much for their fragile state!!! A bit cheeky i know , but seeing as my gran has decided to accompany me i'll be able to put my theory to the test. Having saying that i was a little surprised that she would want to come as she's in bed by 5 :30 6o'clock at a push ( no word of a lie !) and in her st. lucian accent she declared "monique i dont joke tinkin i wood not com ...i wan to see d paint tings !!! 

FASHION FAIR ...

Get your overnight bags ready because this is on date to pencil in your diaries!!! Vintage at Goodwood is coming to town so get ready for a weekend packed with art, music and fashion all under one roof, located in Sussex. The bands performing are sectioned into different decades -plus grab your skates as there is a roller disco i'm so excited! ( though i am painfully aware that keeping my balance never quite goes to plan. I'm just really clumsy ...i mean ...come on now ...who falls UP the stairs?!)

Plus sussex is where sisters Lily Allen and Sarah Owen have their vintage store Lucy in disguise.  Plus Vintage at Goodwood offers GLAMPING ( translation posh camping sleeping on egyptian cotton !!!!) and vintage caravans . For me Goodwood will be an opportunity to invest more in vintage clothing. Don't get me wrong i love the british high street i mean topshop is literally my home away from home, but when i go out, i scrunch my face if i see someone in an outfit that i have as if to say i'm the only person that shops there. Sad but true. I have vintage pieces but my supplies are limited. However having a discussion with my good ol' friend tracey one thing remains the same; the beauty of vintage is that you rarely find someone mimicing your style. I love a good quote and in the words of miss nash (thanks my love big thumbs up hence why im stealing it) "Vintage is daring, controversial and makes the old look fresh. Not necessarily saying you need to dress in head to toe in Vintage but to showcase a gradual transition " couldn't of put it better myself !!

my sister hates telling me to look at the camera..she believes its outdated and prefers to take the shot when i'm not looking ...i'm not sure i agree...

Recovering from the previous day, my sister and i went on a day out to ikea ...great times! (emphasis on the sarcasm) my room is in the process of being redecorated and my theme is black white and grey. My parent think its slightly morbid but black and white is not classic but next season's key trends so rsvp fashionistas!!! After buying some storage boxes we decided to hit to run in to primark for basic sandals which turned out to be a shopping trip :s i know ..i couldn't resist! Despite being extremely tired i'm not one to turn down a shopping trip. I wore my new owl ring (after one of my uni flat mates ,who is a guy i might add stole it!!). Plus i'm still obsessed with my h&m pendant i find myself wearing it practically everyday!!!
