march into style....

This season salutes the continual trend :
military
It lies all in the detail with this trend. A/W 09/10 SAW the evolution on the military trend, with french designer  Christophe Decarnin  elegant and modern twist on Pierre Balmain's military jacket. To make this style work team a military jacket or utility parka with a disty floral dress and military boots. Don't forget the khakis and  greys-add brights to brighten up this trend but.  The 90's saw Galliano and Ralph Lauren bring the g.i. joe cargo pants to the runway. To achieve this laid back look roll the cargo pants at the hem - it adds edge to the military mode. Top tip don't forget to accessorize with leather goods...get reacquainted becasue leather is here to stay ...over and out!!

anarchy antics at american apparel

Thousands of thousands of people, swarms and swarms of students, hundreds and hundreds of hoodlums, a mixture of the perfect crowd! Good friday. Brick Lane. It was a typical rumble in the american apparel jungle! For all fashionistas out there you all are well aware that fashion comes first, lunch (and sleep for the determined and successful 30 ) later. like true fashion savvy people everyone loves a bargain and at the ludicrously cheap deals that the rummage sale had to offer, it was an event not to miss. The downside....no security and a crowd that the small number of aa staff could not handle. Resulting in people acting wild to hound their way through. Speechless? ...i was but at the same time it felt uncanny, surreal, adrenalin pumping to say the least. The old saying "the early bird catches the worm"....did not apply in this case. The crowds of fashion forward people flocking towards brick lane with unreal. The manic mosh pit that awaited me was far from what i had imagined - but as the saying goes 'if you can't beat 'em...join 'em.' Armed and ready to smash and grab. It looked like something out of jumanji. People climbing on cars, pushing, ranting, raving... a taxi stupidly decided to drive into the crowd which resulted in the arrival of the police and the anarchy errupting. The event was too much to put into words. Sad to say it was shut down, however American Apparel posted an apology and new dates and discounts on their facebook group (so log in and snag yourself a bargain!). As everyone turned and walked away i resented those that swept through the crowd with their AA bags smiling back at me and all the while it had me thinking, is this what fashion has come to ? but hey ...all is fair in love and fashion!
And from the photos ...a picture tells a thousand words!

in with the new....

After much persuasion (and deliberation on my part, and getting addicted to following everyone else's blogs) i have finally created a blog page! Instead of being interested in fashion and studying for an english degree ...why not mix the two together? A way to be creative and showcase my writing skills. I say "in with the new and stay true to the old too!" I intend to not only focus on my weakness and painful addiction, fashion, but also bring you music, art and anything else that springs to mind. In the words of Coco Chanel,"Fashion fades, style remains."
