anarchy antics at american apparel

Thousands of thousands of people, swarms and swarms of students, hundreds and hundreds of hoodlums, a mixture of the perfect crowd! Good friday. Brick Lane. It was a typical rumble in the american apparel jungle! For all fashionistas out there you all are well aware that fashion comes first, lunch (and sleep for the determined and successful 30 ) later. like true fashion savvy people everyone loves a bargain and at the ludicrously cheap deals that the rummage sale had to offer, it was an event not to miss. The downside....no security and a crowd that the small number of aa staff could not handle. Resulting in people acting wild to hound their way through. Speechless? ...i was but at the same time it felt uncanny, surreal, adrenalin pumping to say the least. The old saying "the early bird catches the worm"....did not apply in this case. The crowds of fashion forward people flocking towards brick lane with unreal. The manic mosh pit that awaited me was far from what i had imagined - but as the saying goes 'if you can't beat 'em...join 'em.' Armed and ready to smash and grab. It looked like something out of jumanji. People climbing on cars, pushing, ranting, raving... a taxi stupidly decided to drive into the crowd which resulted in the arrival of the police and the anarchy errupting. The event was too much to put into words. Sad to say it was shut down, however American Apparel posted an apology and new dates and discounts on their facebook group (so log in and snag yourself a bargain!). As everyone turned and walked away i resented those that swept through the crowd with their AA bags smiling back at me and all the while it had me thinking, is this what fashion has come to ? but hey ...all is fair in love and fashion!
And from the photos ...a picture tells a thousand words!
